I live on a college campus. I lost about 10 pounds of weight over this semester alone, (I don't know how much of it was fat...) because I moved further away from the main area where the food is. I also cancelled a food plan since last semester. Now that I actually have to go across campus to eat or across town to shop (on foot) it has been easier to slowly get rid of the excess.

@Jacqueline, now all you need to do is drop those poisonous grains from your diet completely and see the rest of the weight disappear.

When the profit line is more important than peoples health anything is fair game. The grain industry is very reminiscent of the tobacco industry, with similar repercussions for health.

Dom, exercising while watching TV is a bad idea, you invariably sacrifice intensity.

Jayson, I want to share an experience I've had the past week. I've baked my own bread from stoneground wholemeal flour. It really does keep me fuller for longer, and I no longer have the afternoon munchies. Plus I've lost one pound the past week. Just by changing the type of bread I eat (and subsequently reducing cravings).

I don't think the soups are a good choice in most restaurants. Well it depends on the soup.

Which one do you think is better? broccoli and cheese, or any of the other common soups?

"The End of Overeating." - your comment of not even starting is so true. I often say to myself at my workplace that 2 days a week bakes cookies for the lobby ( frozen roll kind) to be 'kind to our seniors'(not my decision.. a full fitness center in a non residential senior center with cookies in the lobby after exercise 2x per week.. hmmm what is wrong with this picture?). I always tell myself ' just say NO to drugs'... I guess you and Dr K have just verified it!

hi Jayson,

Another great episode, keep them coming. I like your ethos of healthy America.

I'm a personal trainer in London UK and we face the same challenges as you guys in the States.

In my part of London, near the 2012 Olympic park, there are dozens of cheap fried chicken & chips fast-food outlets, and the pavements are littered with chicken bones and wrappers.

Wouldn't it be great if someone set up a chain of healthy-eating outlets that were seen as cool and enticing for young people?

My weight loss tip that you could suggest on your show: exercise while watching TV!
