In addition to the snacks you mention in reply to Andrea, what other non meat protiens can you eat. Meat is always harder to prepare and take to work, for example.
thanks,
Jon

Complex carbs can be eaten at dinner. Simple carbs are what you want after a workout to get them into the bloodstream quickly. Losing weight is one of the biggest keys to improving leptin and insulin resistance.

Also, consuming plenty of lean protein so that it releases glucagon and counteracts the effects of insulin also helps. You don't want to deprive yourself of carbs though or else your leptin resistance issues will get worse. You need to either cycle your carbs or keep a healthy balance of them to keep leptin levels normal. This video helps explain leptin resistance as well. http://fiveweekfatloss.com/hormone_video.htm

Good info. Thanks. I do have a question about eating carbs. When is the best time to eat complex carbs like oatmeal, quinoa, rice, etc. Would it be best after your post workout shake and then just have protein and veggies for the rest of the day? Or is it okay to have a complex carb at dinner?
This is all to help me increase my lean muscle mass and decrease fat.
What are some good foods to break the insulin resistance and leptin resistance?

Good protein snacks are cottage cheese, yogurt, mozzarella cheese (lower in fat than other cheeses), hard boiled eggs, almonds

There is no need to keep your protein from coming in contact with your carbohydrates.

Ok, protien is good. Can you give me a quick protien "snack" to keep in my hand bag to help me through the day?

If I have cheese, for example, does it have to be a specific type of cheese? Does the fat content matter?

Is there a problem if my protien comes in contact with carbohydrates? (Like a peanut butter sandwich?)
