Hi Jayson! I’ve seen applied kinesiolgy done on the eat for your blood type book & everybody that was tested their arm went down. Meaning the book didn’t resonate with truth. My cousin is an advocate for the blood type diet – she didn’t believe it & gave me something about why do we have different blood types & I responded something about early cave men & what they probably ate – hunter/gatherers. I also implied maybe it’s her belief in it that it works for her. Can you maybe expand a little more on what you think of these body/blood tyoe of diets? I was wondering if you could use an audio recording also because the video format bogs down on my computer (it’s not that ancient & I’ve got cable internet) & it makes it painful to watch. Working out isn’t my problem so of course it’s my eating; I do resistance training 3x/week and HIIT 2-3x/week.
I know eating at a calorie deficit is necessary for me to lose fat; however, learning how to adjust and be happy with eating a smaller quantity of food is hard for me. For example, I love eating 3 Tbsp (or more) of almond butter with an apple or celery for a snack but I won’t burn fat. I do eat 6x/day and ensure I eat a lean protein with every meal and lots of veggies to help me fill up but sometimes my protein quantity is larger than it should be to again lose fat.
Do you have any suggestions?

Who says you won’t burn fat by eating almond butter and an apple or celery? If you are doing all the other things necessary to burn fat then having some almond butter isn’t going to ruin the weight loss. Remember there are a lot of components that go into losing fat. Don’t get hung up on just one component.

Okay point taken. It’s not that almond butter can’t help me burn fat, but anything (regardless of how healthy) is good for you in large quantities. Quinoa is my other healthy vice food I eat in large quantities.
I guess I’m looking at 1 aspect of my nutrition scheme to improve my results. I eat more calories than I should so my question about learning how to adjust my body to healthier quantities might be a “suck it up” response. I do have a scheduled cheat day (Joel’s Cheat Your Way Thin) where I have gone overboard in the past but I’m working on it. This past weekend, I was very happy at cheating with some restraint. However, I want to fine tune anything else I can do nutrition wise to help me burn fat.
If you have any suggestions, I’d be happy to hearing them.

Well, the easiest method, but it does take self discipline is to portion our your vices and know that you can’t have more than what you portioned out. To some extent it is your ’suck it up’ response. The reality is that we always have to have some type of discipline and determination or there won’t be a plan in the world that will help you because you really wouldn’t be following a plan. You would be following your own plan.

What are your thoughts on coconut oil in ref.to Dr.Raymond Peat http://raypeat.com/ about them and mct oils in general as a part of a fatloss program.
A lot of trainers around my area are all high on his theroies.. your thoughts please thanks,

Jayson,
You’re a brave man to tell the truth about high fructose corn syrup – that it’s no worse than sugar (sucrose) which it is simply replacing in the soft drink. Very politically incorrect – but absolutely true.
The biggest problem I see personally at most fast food restaurants is the indiscriminate consumption of sugar laden soft drinks and unlimited refills at the beverage bar. That glucose load on the body causes devastating metabolic consequences includind huge insulin spikes and increased triglyceride levels.
For the vast majority of people, the ONLY place for that sugar to go is right into fat as most people never deplete their glycogen stores by high intensity exercise. Over time, constant stimulation of the pancreatic beta cells to pump out huge levels of insulin to respond to that blood sugar load results in beta cell burn-out and type 2 diabetes.
So here’s my big fat loss tip:
Don’t drink your calories!
That means no sugary soft drinks, no 16 oz juices, no high calorie gourmet coffee drinks, no beer or alcoholic beverages. A little skim milk is OK – there’s protein and calcium in it – but mostly your fluids should be free of calories.
Making that one change can have a huge impact on your fat loss while at the same time improving your hormonal balance.

I’ve heard that if you crave something salty, it means you really need to drink water. Is this true? And if so, are there other cravings that really represent a need for something other than what you think?

Yes, that can be true in some instances. Also, if you are hungry at odd times then that many times means you are thirsty as well. That is why if the hunger issue happens for you then you should try and drink 8-10 ounces of water. Then wait 15-20 minutes and if you are still hungry then go ahead and eat.

I am sure I will get some backlash, but the truth is the truth. If food manufacturers filled these foods with sugar instead of HFCS we would still end up with the same result we currently have. HFCS is just cheaper for them to use. That is the main reason it is used over sugar.

I think that some people are to strict with themselves and that’s how they fail with they fat burn struggles. I was once very strict with my diet. I wouldn’t eat any candy, anything with sugar honey or any other sweetner or anything with trans fats. I believed all that would make me fat. Now i eat pretty much anything but the key is that i make sure i stick to my burn fat calorie intake allowance. I eat pizza, ice cream, chocolate and i still lose waight. One thing I learned about fat loss is that it doesn’t matter what you eat if you stay in your deficit, but if you wanna be healthy then watch what you put in your mouth.

Coconut oil is considered to be a healthy oil. As far as all the benefits some people claim I think research and time will tell if these benefits hold true. It is considered a healthy oil though.
